Villa Lotus

Villa Lotus is located under shady coconut palms on a long stretch of beach right on the Indian Ocean in Ahungalla, in the southwest of Sri Lanka. The hotel was founded by Mr. Peter Huber, an Austrian, in 1982 as a holiday guesthouse.

The Lotus Villa comprises 19 ground-floor rooms, a restaurant, and therapy rooms under the friendly yet profound leadership of Mrs. Huber and Mr. Sushant Huber (the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Huber). The senior management always strives to provide all clients with an authentic Ayurvedic experience.

Over the last 25 years, through great commitment, the efforts of all employees, and the provision of high-quality treatments and personalised care for guests and patients, Lotus Villa has become one of the premier Ayurvedic centres in Sri Lanka. The Ayurveda practised at Lotus Villa is always aimed at treating the root cause of an ailment, rather than suppressing symptoms. The dedication and personalised approach of our staff ensure our clients achieve maximum relaxation during their holidays.

What makes Villa Lotus different from others?

• Linen in the Ayurveda department is washed 3 times a day to completely remove oils.
• The office is open day and night.
• All rooms have been specially built and designed to ensure maximum relaxation. Therefore, there are no telephones, refrigerators, or air conditioning in the rooms.
• Certified pure drinking water is supplied throughout the house – even in the toilet.
• All dishes are prepared individually according to quantity and ingredients.
• For all treatments, especially body massages, individual oil blends are prepared for each individual patient.
• The translator works day and night.
• At least one doctor is on duty day and night. This means that a doctor does not need to be called in from outside.
• All staff at Lotus Villa receive regular training in their respective fields and in Ayurveda.
• Yoga, Tai Chi and meditation sessions are offered and practised (up to 7 days a week).
• Every guest arriving at Villa Lotus for the first time is told about the house and about Ayurveda.

For people with disabilities

• All drivers, masseurs, waiters and support staff are trained in handling patients with disabilities and wheelchairs.
• All doors are wide enough.
• Every room and bathroom is equipped with an alarm.
• The alarm bells in the bathrooms reach the floor.
• Shower cubicles are suitable for people in wheelchairs.
• The showers and toilets are equipped with special chairs.
• All rooms, such as treatment rooms, living areas, the restaurant, and the office, are wheelchair accessible (step-free). Ramps are provided in the rooms and the restaurant.
• Grab rails will be installed individually in bathrooms upon arrival as required.
• The pool is accessible by wheelchair and is equipped with safety handles.
• The beach is accessible by wheelchair, and you can admire the sunset from the terrace.

Advantages

• The size of Villa Lotus is perfect for a personal touch. The hotel has only 19 rooms.
• A treatment programme is drawn up individually for each specific person.
• Smoking is prohibited in the rooms, restaurant, and treatment rooms. However, a specially equipped smoking area is provided.
• There is no background music in the treatment rooms. According to Ayurveda, attention should be focused on only one thing, not two.
• Each guest has their own menu, compiled by doctors.
• We only serve moderate drinks.
• Each medication is produced on the villa's premises and is individually tailored.
• Only natural products, grown on the villa's grounds, are used in the production of the medicines. No Western products are added to the medicines.
• There is a special licence for the manufacture of medicines.
• For guests and patients from Asian and Arab countries: there are separate massage teams for women and men.
• Lotus Villa translators are familiar with special medical terms.
• All doctors at Lotus Villa (including external doctors) hold degrees from renowned government universities and are registered with the Ministry of Ayurveda.
• All employees in the Ayurveda department work exclusively in their specialised area.
• Presentations and discussions on Ayurveda, Ayurvedic medicine, treatment programmes, yoga, nutrition, etc. These are held regularly and without time limits.
