I had long dreamed of going to India, to the state of Kerala, to do an Ayurvedic Panchakarma. I really wanted to experience this healing in its very homeland, to see how it all works there. Of course, I had already tried elements of Indian and Tibetan practices and use them all the time — but the versions adapted here. I myself had never been to India or Tibet before.

Before the trip I was very nervous: how would I manage on my own, without English and without roaming? But it all worked out! Huge thanks to Panchakarma Club and to Olga Solovyova personally. She helped with buying the tickets, booking the clinic, and arranging the meeting and the transfer.

In the end the flight was comfortable, though with a change — there are no direct flights there. There was enough time between flights to get my bearings. I travelled light — luckily it was summer. But I was already unwell when I flew: because of accumulated stress, I had a flare-up of irritable bowel syndrome.

On the morning after check-in (I was given a twin room) there was a consultation with an interpreter. They examined me, determined my doshas and prescribed treatment, which was adjusted a little in the first days. The symptoms passed as early as the third day, to my enormous delight! The magic little tablets helped — two before meals — which let me eat normally. After meals I also took a mixture.

Every day for 10 days I was given various massages: rubbed with oils, tapped with herbal pouches, poured over with different preparations. To finish the procedures — a mask for the face and head. After that, 30 minutes of rest on the veranda with a view of the ocean, with a mask on my face and coconut milk served straight from the coconut.

Surprisingly, as a result my measurements went down, and I even put on weight — and I was glad. It meant there had been swelling I was not aware of.

Every day there were also physiotherapy sessions, which they call yoga there, but which were essentially therapeutic exercise. Between the procedures and the yoga I managed to sunbathe a little on the balcony and have lunch. Two days were set aside for short outings to the sights — on those days the yoga was cancelled.

On arrival, communication was arranged for me at the hotel. I was given a portable Wi-Fi that worked everywhere, both at the hotel and on the outings. I used it both to make calls and to be online. Very convenient — a little box.

At my request, there was also a photoshoot in a sari.

And later, on an outing, the clinic gave me a sari as a gift.

At that time of year the ocean was closed for swimming, but twice I persuaded a lifeguard to accompany me for photos — and got some lovely shots, having a little swim. There was no rain, the sun was not scorching, and the humidity was comfortable.

The people in Kerala are very beautiful, dark-skinned, well-dressed, and incredibly kind-hearted. They love Russians there, are drawn to us, and dream of coming too. I wish I had a magic door so I could stroll around India without a ten-hour flight.

There is something complementary between us — that is a fact.

After the treatment I felt considerably better, but I am still taking the medications. I was given the prescription; I did not buy them there — I bought them here.

            Good afternoon!
I spent 14 days at the hotel, undertaking a Panchakarma course. This was my first trip to India, and I'm very glad I chose this hotel. The staff were excellent and friendly, with a very attentive approach. Deciding to book a bungalow was the right choice as it was further away from the noise and closer to the sea.
A quiet, small beach with sun loungers for hire.
I liked the Panchakarma course, to be honest I expected more in terms of cleansing, but the method is adapted for Europeans, so everything is humane.
The only downside is that the hotel isn't new and could do with a renovation. The nature and location of the hotel are wonderful, I highly recommend it. Thank you Panchakarma.club for your help in choosing the hotel and organising my tour, your responsiveness and professional approach to work are much appreciated.
I wish everyone a great holiday.
